Professional ozone disinfection for homes, businesses and cars

What is ozone and how does ecological disinfection work?

Molekula ozónu O₃

Chemical nature and formation of ozone

Ozone is a colorless gas that is heavier than air. It consists of three oxygen atoms and can be commonly smelled in nature after a strong thunderstorm. The human sense of smell can detect its typical fresh scent even at extremely low concentrations.

However, the ozone molecule is very unstable and after a short time it naturally decomposes back to ordinary diatomic oxygen (O₂). For this reason, it cannot be stored and cannot be bought in bottles. It must be produced directly at the place of use using an ozone generator.

Silent corona discharge technology

Professional ozone generators use silent corona discharge technology (dielectric barrier discharge). Ambient air containing oxygen (O₂) passes through the device. High voltage (on ceramic plates with output up to 5.5 kV) splits oxygen molecules into free radicals. These immediately bind to surrounding oxygen molecules and form active ozone (O₃).

Why is ozone an uncompromising destroyer of pathogens?

Bacteria and mold

Ozone destroys cells through a process called ozonolysis. It reacts with lipids in the pathogen's cell wall, disrupts its integrity and causes immediate perforation (lysis) of the cell.

Viruses

Oxidizes the protein coat of the virus and damages its internal RNA/DNA structure, causing it to lose its ability to replicate.

Mites and insects

The gas penetrates deep into textiles, mattresses and cracks, where it reliably kills mites, moths and other small insects.
